Things that are different about living in Boston than living in a small town:
- I have to walk two blocks to the closest mailbox to send letters or Netflix.
- The weather is wonderful. Even though it got up over 100 last week the summertime high temp rarely gets above 85. At night it gets down into the 60’s with a cool breeze. This love for the weather will change in a few short months.
- Most grocery stores don’t sell beer. You have to go to a liquor store or a Beer & Wine store.
- There are wireless hotspots everywhere, so I have to turn off wifi on my iPhone when I go into the city lest I be constantly inundated with log-on requests.
- People actually look for bicyclists while driving here.
- Splitting up a check at a restaurant here is considered a huge inconvenience to servers.
- Even though there are more cars on the road, there are not two gas stations on every other corner. Even in the city you may have to drive over a mile to find a gas station.
- If you take a 10-minute walk down the street you are likely to hear three different languages spoken. If you spend a day in the city you can hear a lot more!
- You hear an impressive amount of profanity on a regular day… especially from drivers yelling out of their windows.
- The closest Wal-Mart is like 30 minutes outside of town.
- There are a lot more video jobs open and available here. However, there are also a lot more people looking for those jobs.
